Pink Stiletto Cosmetics: Whip it good

web_banner (1)

I am so excited to share with you guys my new Favorite cosmetic line called Pink Stiletto Cosmetics. Let me share with you  a bit about Pink Stiletto cosmetics. Pink Stiletto Cosmetics began it’s mission to create better makeup 2 years ago. They started with a few ingredients and a goal.. Make colors that were true to color and left out all of the extras that make traditional makeup, itchy, uncomfortable and dull. From the fairest skin to the deepest ebony Pink Stiletto has got a color you’re bound to love.

I had the pleasure of reviewing a few of their products which of course I was excited about. Let me tell you, I am in love with PSC, they are so different than any other cosmetic company out there. They take great care in their customers wants and needs. By listening to their requests and ideas, issues and concerns. I am not saying this just because i am doing a review on their products, I’m saying this because i had the privilege of speaking one on one with PSC founder Crystal Carmen. When i shared with her my skin concerns, she guided me on what makeup would be best for my skin. (Look for her one on one interview soon)

Here are some of the products I received:

Flaunt it Blush

Glow Shadow

Pixie Shadow

Spice Shadow

Dynasty Lip Whip

Foundation X in Boston

*These are sample sizes for review purposes only*

The color combo PSC sent was  all about building the perfect smokey eye.

I really loved the Lip Whip it’s so smooth and at first i thought it would have been too glossy or something. But i was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t, it was the perfect cross between lipstick and lip gloss and lasted all day. I only re-applied it once because I was eating and wiped it off with a napkin way too hard  haha

Glow( Pictured on Right) is a brilliant brown based hold that leaves a slightly sparkly finish.   Flaunt it is a super shimmery orange based blush that just gives the perfect amount of peach with a golden shimmer that makes your skin glow.

Spice is a super plum brown that can be used as a crease color, smokey shade, use with setting spray to make eyeliner or even as a contour shade for darker skin tones.

Foundation X in Boston is a foundation that covers, moisturizes and contains a botanical blend that helps keep your skin look good from the inside out! Leave a dew like finish. Wear as is or set with finishing powder for a matter look. I have been looking for a great foundation and finally my search is over. Boston went on so smoothly and felt fresh. It didn’t leave my skin oily or dirty feeling like other foundations do.

Pixie is a frosty and shimmery gray shade that works perfect as a highlight in the inner year duct.

Overall I love PSC they exceeded my expectations , I recommend you give them a try you won’t regret it.

What Pink Stiletto offers:

Lipwhips (lipgloss with the opacity of lipstick)

Blushes with sparkling finishes for a radiant look

Powdered and Liquid Foundations that are high in coverage but low in everything you don’t want on face.

And eyeshadows that are as true to color as you’ll ever find in a unique assortment of colors and finishes.

Tres Maquillistas de Puerto Rico hablan sobre el maquillaje para esta Navidad!

“Marta and I thought it would be great to introduce a Spanish section to the blog, we hope you all enjoy it.”

Maquillista Liz Shakira Ramos

Maquillista Liz Shakira Ramos

Puerto Rico’s High Fashion Week: One of the most anticipated events of the year!

Puerto High Fashion Week is one of the most anticipated Fashion events of the year on the Island. This year it was held at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in Hato Rey. To open Fashion Week they had the Elite Model Search Final, this year the beautiful model who won was 16 year old Paola Roman from Caguas, Puerto Rico, she will be representing Puerto Rico in Shangai China in December, Designer Eddie Guerrero also presented his collection that night, among others.

Kenelma Figueroa Director of Models for Society with her models at PRHFW

Many other amazing and talented designers presented their collections the rest of the nights. I went on Saturday , when I arrived I met Kenelma Figueroa a charming woman with a heart of gold, she is the Director of Models for Society, the project is for little girls to develop auto-esteem through modeling, they received a donation from the administration of PRHFW to go to one of the Fashion Shows and the look on their faces was priceless.

Paola Roman Elite Model Winner

All of the designers that presented their collection that night were amazing. Then, the closing Fashion Show by The Blonds, what can I say, out of this world…they had a full house, it started with a video showing some of their star clients, like JLO, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga among others.

Designer Lisa Thon

The collection was simply breathtaking, it was full of glitter, metals, chains, everyone was at awe with the designs. PRHFW did not disappoint us this year, but to be sincere they never do!

Dare to bare your arms this Summer!

This post is sponsored by Dove® ClearTone™ Deodorant – designed to visibly reduce underarm dark marks and even skin tone.

So is it just me or is it super hot this summer!?  I have been finding my self spending time at the beach more frequently.  And you know what that means Sleeveless tops, i know i am not the only woman who dislikes showing her arms.

But forget feeling embarrassed because when its 100 degrees outside all i want to do is be naked . Anyway here a few tips to get your skin ready to bare your underarms this summer.  One thing i hate  is when i do wear my sleeveless shirts are the Dark marks under the arms that sometimes occur.  Let’s first look into what causes Dark Marks under the arms.

1. Excessive Sweating

2. Shaving (if you shave make sure to use a lotion or shaving cream while shaving. Shaving on the skin will cause irritation and razor bumps ouch!)

3. Dead skin build up

4. Alcohol or strong fragrances in deodorants( if you are going to use a deoorant the one i swear by is Dove’s Clear Tone Skin Renew Deodorant.

5. Friction due to tight clothing which brushes against the skin (In summer wear looser fitting tops, because of the heat having clingy tops on will just make you super sweaty)

I know its hard to keep cool and not sweaty when its summer so here are a few tips and tricks that i’ve learned to keep cool. Okay so all of us who were born with thick thighs know Chafing is a big problem especially in the summer.
Your bare thighs chafe or stick when they rub together under a skirt. To keep your thighs from chafing  simply apply an antiperspirant to the inside of your thighs. You can use roll-ons or sprays. The anti-perspirant keeps your thighs from sweating so chafing won’t happen. Keep the anti-perspirant in your purse for really long days in the sun. You may need to re-apply as the day wears on and the product wears off.

All about the lips

Keep Lips Soft and Moisturized

Most of us are pretty good about wearing lip balm or a lip moisturizer in the winter. Even when the weather is humid a lip moisturizer is needed, especially one with sunscreen. Lips need to remain moisturized to keep them soft and smooth. If your lips become dry and flaky, try exfoliating them with a little brown sugar and olive oil.

Fight Frizz this summer

It’s summer and your hair may get a bit frizz here are my top tips to beat that frizz. Only Lather up a few times a week, that natural oils that are in your hair is a good frizz fighter. If your hair feels a bit oily try a Dry Shampoo, i recommend trying Dove’s invigorating Dry ShampooDon’t Towel Dry your hair! If you are trying to beat the frizz thats only going to make it worse, It roughs up the hair’s cuticle so that it won’t lie flat, which makes it look frizzy. Instead, use a superabsorbent microfiber towel to gently press the water out of your hair.

Don’t look washed out poolside

Adding a hint of color to just your cheeks and lips will prevent you from looking completely washed out while sitting poolside, look for waterproof blushes that won’t smear in the heat.

Your Best Summer skin!

Exfoliate and Moisturize/Hydrate your skin.

Exfoliating your skin is very important in the summer. Skin cells are shed at a very quick rate every day, so if you do not get rid of dead cells sitting on top of your skin they can cause it to look dull and dry.Choose a gentle exfoliant with natural ingredients such as oatmeal or sugar. Like Dove’s Gentle Exfoliating beauty bar.

Moisturize and Hydrate it Excessive heat can dehydrate the skin, so it’s important to keep it moisturized during the summer. It’s tempting to skip moisturizer in the summer because of excess oils on the skin, but why not switch to something lighter? Use a lotion instead of a creme—it contains more water and less oil. If you wish to continue using an oil-based moisturizer, simply use less of it or apply it on damp skin. Try moisturizers made with kukui nut oil (an extremely lightweight oil) or camellia oil (from the green tea plant). Both are good for all skin types and are very rich in antioxidants. By protecting your skin every day, exfoliating it a few times a week, and making sure to keep it moisturized, you’ll be glowing all summer long

Remember to stay cool!

Don’t forget to keep cool while you are out in the sun, my Mother always taught me to put a bottle of water in the freezer at night to get it ready for the next morning.

Beauty Disasters Solved: Summer Edition

This post is sponsored by Dove® ClearTone™ Deodorant – designed to visibly reduce underarm dark marks and even skin tone.

Beauty Disaster: Plucking your eyebrows way to close to your mirror..

My Eyebrows

Then looking like you are questioning the world , well unfortunately  i have been through this many times. When you’re focused on every little hair, you don’t keep track of the shape of the entire eyebrow. The result? Thin or uneven brows. (which in the picture below you can clearly see) A better way to achieve an even look is opening a curtain to let Natural light in and placing a large mirror there. I find the natural light helps me focus on getting everything even.  Brows should be in proportion to your face shape and the placement and size of your features. Move closer to the mirror and begin tweezing. Step back after every few hairs to check the symmetry of your brows.

                                         Beauty Disaster: A surprise zit

Don’t you just hate when your planning a big night with your friends and then you look in the mirror and an unexpected friend joined the party?   Yes i’m talking about a zit! First, don’t panic, because stress only makes things worse. Then, reach for your zit emergency kit (which you should always have in your purse): a spot treatment and a small tube of concealer.

Beauty Disaster: Dark Underarms

Yes i said Dark Marks,  the ones that are caused by shaving. In some cases shaving irritates the skin and causes Dark marks under your arm. Also according to at least one dermatologist, dark spots under your arms are the result of dead skin cells that are trapped in microscopic “hills and valleys” on your skin.

I suggest using  Dove’s Clear Tone™ Skin Renew Deodorant.   Its unique formula, made with calendula and sunflower seed extracts, moisturizes to accelerate the natural skin renewal process, helping to visibly reduce dark marks and even tone with regular use over time, while providing 24-hour odor and wetness protection.  I swear by it, i have very sensitive skin so anything makes me break out. Dove Products have been in my family since i was a young kid.

Beauty Disaster: Using too much Product

If you OD’d on hairspray or smoothing serum, spray your roots with dry shampoo or sprinkle on some talcum powder to absorb the grease,” The best way to deal with too much hairspray, gel, or mousse (all alcohol-based products) is to brush your hair until it no longer feels crunchy and stiff. I suggest using  Dove’s Refresh+Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo it absorbs oil to transform hair from lifeless to bouncy so you enjoy style that looks and feels refreshed with a freshly-washed scent, even when you skip your regular wash.

Beauty Disaster: Chipped Nail

Don’t you just hate when you just get your nails done, and as soon as you leave the spa you either smash your freshly done pedi against your car  or smudge your Mani all over the wall. The solution: is to have the polish with you (so BYO bottle to the nail salon next time). Yes i just said that! So you can place a dot of polish on the chipped or smudged area. Let it dry then apply another coat.,If you don’t have polish on, just whip out your trusty Nail file and start filing away at the chipped part so its less noticeable. which i know every girl has in her purse.

So what are your Summer Beauty disasters and how did you solve them? Please share in the comment section below!

Dear Alejandra Azcarate, Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

So i’m steering away from the usual things that i post on this blog to bring something that just outraged me to high heaven. I usally don’t get upset or phased by things like this but lord help me i almost blew one today. I was on facebook looking though posts when i came across an article posted on a Spanish website called alomujeres.com. Which was posted by Alejandra Azcarate i have no idea who she is i’m guessing thats why she made that post to get her name out there.  I was going to post on there but i decided not to because thats just want they want, to be honest after today i have never ever heard of this website. I will link the article. below.  When i read it i can just hear the mocking tone she was taking while writing the post. She reminded me of those mean girls in highschool who would pick on anyone who looked different.

I went on the site and saw this

I like the body light, agile and resilient. I identify my genetics and metabolism with an aesthetic without masses, and disproportions reliefs. But also, today I decided to leave my primary perspective of beauty to open my mind and analyze the advantages of being fat. A woman born to be fat or fat must have certain points in its favor that should be highlighted and identified by the flacuchentas not like me.

(Sorry for the translation Spanish does not translate well in english) I thought oh okay this is cool lets see her take, so i read on. Dios Mio, i’m about to lay the smack down on this lady..                                                                                           ..Black Woman Passing out Pictures, Images and Photos

(Again sorry for the translation)

Sooo because i am layed out in the beach i am suppose to be ashamed according to Alejandra, because i have stretch marks that look like i was attacked by a lion… oh ok….  lets see what else she wrote… Hmmm this is a good one she claims to be a victim….

She stated , I confess that i am part of the victims of this society that bombards us with specific patterns of beauty which thiness is an ideal. No she is not a Victm she is apart of the problem.  She is a bully!

No Alejandra you are not a victim you are a bully, you wrote a post thinking it will not offended people. Well if you look at the comments people have posted on your blog, facebook wall etc.. you have offended many. Do you not know alot of your fans may be plus sized? or did you just forget?…….

It sickens me that we live in a day and age that people still bully people i mean come on its 2012. Why can’t we all just accept each other the way we are? Why do we always have to criticize and have an negative opinion about each other. Why does it have to be Curvy this Thin this real woman this and that?  Why can’t we all just get along? It seems like something so easy to do, but we never even try.

This is my letter to her, maybe she will read it who knows….. This is my Advice to you Abe Lincoln said it best,  Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
~Abraham Lincoln

Dear Alejandra Azcarate,

English Version:

This is the most ignorant thing i have ever read, This article is  insulting and disgusting.  I can feel the hatred and disgust spewing from your post. To me you sound like those mean girls that pick on all the lil girls and boys because they are different than you are. Go get a reality check just because you’re thin does not make you a better person.  You need an attitude check!  I am very disappointed that the editor of this website, even allowed you to publish this article.  Shame on you all! Just to educate you a bit,  Being plus size doesn’t mean you are unhealthy that’s just an assumption.  Do your research before putting the first thing that comes to your mouth out there.  I know you were taught you to think before you speak…….This is my Advice to you Abe Lincoln said it best,  Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

Charmed Eyes

We have so much talent in Puerto Rico, that makes me proud because we are a small Island but giant in talent. I want to blog about a Makeup Artist Group called Charmed Eyes. Their founder is Namir Perez, so talented, she has been working in this industry for around four years and has been very successful, I saw their work in Ruins Fashion Nights and I was amazed with their work.

They have eleven makeup artist and stylist, what impressed me was their body painting, just out of this world. They have worked in many events and with renowned designers. I wish them all the luck in the world and hope to see their work for many more years to come!!
