Designer Cenia Paredes Designs sold at Macys

I was invited to cover Macys Fashion Show in Puerto Rico, Designer Cenia Paredes would be presenting her designs, she has been associated with Macys for about two years now. I arrived and was received by Georgi Morales Pipkin, Macy’s Media Relations Manager, Southeast and South Central Regions, such a charming young lady, she introduced me to Cenia , I was talking to a Top Designer, very recognized in the Fashion World and I felt I had known her forever, she was so easy to talk to.

She told me that she grew up in a family dedicated almost entirely to the fine art of dress making in her native Dominican Republic. Her mother was a custom made seamstress and Cenia started designing for her mother’s customers at a very early age. Cenia’s mother often had to deal with the difficult situation of having a customer request a dress that was being made for another customer and expect it to look the same way on her even though both had different body types! Cenia would then redesign the dress to make sure it flattered that specific figure.

Paredes developed her distinctive fit concept since an early age. After having the opportunity to come to America, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in 2004. She then worked in New York’s competitive fashion district for various renowned brands, but always kept her dream of designing her own line as her ultimate goal.

In 2009, Cenia launched Cenia Paredes®, a day into evening dress line that takes pride in its quality and blends modern, clean aesthetics and sophistication with a revolutionary fit concept that offers four distinctive fits that cater to the four most predominant female body shapes and collections created exclusively to flatter and compliment them! It is her belief that clothing should be designed with the type of figure it would flatter in mind and always knew that she wanted to design a clothing line that not only represented her vision and design sensibility, but that would also help women look their best no matter what shape they are!

ceniaaaaaaaa

When designing Cenia Paredes® collections, Cenia takes the body shape into consideration in every step of the design development process from the initial concept, to sketching, pattern making, fittings and through production, I was at awe with her beautiful designs. Her designs go up to a size 14 but she is considering expanding to larger sizes. Caridad Fernandez UNICA Agency Owner and PRHFW President was the Master of Ceremonies, always looking beautiful and poised. The models modeling were different shapes and sizes and I loved that. They had appetizers, beverages and Gift Cards for everyone, I would say that we got the royal treatment. If you have a chance go to Macys check out Cenia Paredes Designs you will love them…

“Marta and I thought it would be great to introduce a Spanish section to the blog, we hope you all enjoy it.”

Another Victory for Plus Size Models in Puerto Rico!

Hotel Melia, Ponce. Puerto Rico

I had the honor of Covering Designer Nelly Trinidad and Yolyne Negon’s Fashion Show Majestic Curves this past weekend, in Ponce , Puerto Rico and it was amazing. I arrived at the Melia Hotel on Saturday and met up with the girls because they did makeup and hair there, the makeup artists were Abinelys Garcia and Ana Garcia and these girls did an amazing job, the models looked fabulous.

South Fashion Week Event

The Fashion show started at 8PM and they were the third Fashion Show to present their collection, the Plus Size Models came out and rocked the runway, I always listen to comments from people in the audience and one lady was at awe with the amazing designs she loved how the designers combined the colors gray metallic and red.

Majestic Curves Designs

The last model to close the show was IPM Model Ana Garcia wearing a red dress that was one of the most beautiful designs I saw that night. I was so exited because it was the first time that South Fashion Week had a Plus Size Fashion Show and the producer of the show Rene Cruz was very pleased with the outcome, so history was made at Ponce, Puerto Rico this year having Plus Size Models on the runway at this mega event!

Esposa Moderna’s Editor and Chief Brenda Sosa talks Curvy!!

When you are a bride to be you have so many things on your mind and help is always needed. I found a wonderful magazine on the Island that is called Esposa Moderna, “Modern Wife” that is a God sent for any bride. The editor and chief is a beautiful lady named Brenda Sosa Díaz, she was born in San Juan and obtained her degree in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico.

Brenda Sosa Editor and Chief of Esposa Moderna “Modern Wife”

I talked to her a while back, she was charming and very professional telling me that when you work with love and compromise everyone wins! Her magazine has everything that a bride to be needs,  from Photographers, Videographers, Catering Services, Receptions Locations, Bridal Gowns, Men’s Formalwear – Tuxedos, Bridal Registry, Honeymoon Destinations, Hotels, Wedding Destinations, Florists, Wedding Coordinators, Gift, Health and Beauty,  Music for Ceremony, Restaurants, and Lingerie, among others.

Curvy Model- Karla Medina

I asked Brenda what she thought about curvy models modeling for their magazine and she told me that she was very happy because every woman comes in different shapes and sizes and even if you are curvy you can be a beautiful bride! She has  used curvy models modeling beautiful wedding gowns and lingerie.

IPM Model- Ana Garcia

The magazine is compact and you can take it with you in your purse anywhere you go, I loved that idea also. I wish Brenda and all her team at Esposa Moderna all the luck in the world and I hope to see many more issues of this great magazine and more curvy models in their magazine.

Tropical Curves Fashion Show in Puerto Rico was a mega hit!

Tropcial Curves Models and Blogger/Plus Size advocate Marta Rivera and Designers Nelly Trinidad and Yolyne Negron

Getting to produce the fashion show Tropical Curves was a dream come true for me, I had this idea in my head for months, presented it to Designer Nelly Trinidad and she loved the idea, remember it is until recently that mainstream designers use curvy models on the Island.

Dary Lee Lander Master of Ceremonies

Tropical Curves Model

First I chose a name for the collection and went searching for the  11 beautiful curvy models that would model them, because I am in charge of choosing the models for the designer, then we started the promos, made by Lisandra Falcon and it all came together, we got two great designers to present their collection along side Designer Trinidad, Grisel Barrios and Fernando Gantier, Israel Nieves owner of Divas for Ever and More let the models use his beautiful shoes. The Fashion Show was  presented on July 27, 2012 at the Marriott Hotel in San Juan.

Tropical Curves Model

Everything went smoothly, the models all got along great and had such a great time backstage, we had a full house, Dary Lee Lander an ex beauty queen was the master of ceremonies, she was amazing… and we had a group of dancers during intermission that danced to Tropical Music called Just Perfect Dancers….EGO TV came, Jesus Bernardo took the pics.  Ginny Barkley Editor of  Mujer Creativa and Inelda Santana Director of Style & Mode were also there. I want to share  some of the pics from the Fashion Show that were taken by Jesus Bernardo so you can see for yourself that the designs were just beautiful….
